Research Practice

The research learning process shall be reflective and inquiry-driven, adhering to the university's research-oriented policies.

ASSESSMENT

The assessment for the Doctoral program shall align with the University's research assessment policy.

Core Research Courses:

The performance of candidates in all research-related courses during the coursework shall be evaluated continuously. The weightage shall be as follows, with a maximum of 500 points allotted for each course. To qualify, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 60%. The following assessment policy applies to each course:

A. Formative Assessment for Research Development

This stage emphasizes ongoing assessments to monitor research progress, critical thinking, and comprehension throughout the course. This accounts for 75% of the total points and includes the following components:

Research Quiz (25 points):

A mid-term online quiz to evaluate the understanding of research methodologies and key concepts.

Reflective Research Journal (20 points per module):

For each module, candidates must submit an online reflective journal focusing on their insights into the module's research content and its application to their own research work. Submissions are due weekly, before Sunday.

Research Assignments (25 points):

Every five modules, an online research assignment must be submitted, focusing on problem-solving and the application of concepts learned. Assignments are due by the respective week's Sunday.

Journal Article Review (50 points):

Candidates will critically analyze and submit reviews of selected journal articles, focusing on their relevance to the research field.

Research Presentation (50 points):

Candidates will deliver presentations on specific self-study research topics from the module, demonstrating their understanding and its relevance to their doctoral work.

B. Summative Assessment of Research Outcomes

This stage evaluates candidates’ comprehensive understanding, analytical ability, and mastery of the research content. This accounts for 25% of the total points and includes the following assessments:

Reflective Research Essay (100 points):

A 2000-word online essay reflecting on the course content, critical research insights, key concepts, and the real-world application of the research methodologies learned.

Comprehensive Research Quiz (25 points):

An online quiz to test overall comprehension of the course’s research principles and methodologies.

Attendance Requirement:

Candidates must maintain a minimum of 75% class attendance to be eligible for the summative assessments.
